Description

Backpacking is an excellent, empowering way to escape the daily grind, offering a rewarding experience that can be done economically with proper planning. The key to a successful, stress-free trip is balancing comfort with a lightweight pack.

Skills we'll explore:

  • Brief rundown on the 5 basic needs
  • Planning and preparing for a trip
  • How to organize and pack your gear for various situations and environments
  • Concepts around gear selection: backpacks, shelters, sleep systems, etc.
  • Map reading and compass basics
  • Movement techniques for steep and rough terrain
  • What goes into keeping your food (and thus the animals) safe
  • Meal planning and preparation concepts

Time: 9 am - 5 pm Bring your water, lunch, and snacks you like!  An email with all the necessary details will be sent to registered clients about one week before the course date.
