Description
The Pagosa Gateway Project is the story of an ambitious river restoration effort by the Upper San Juan Watershed Enhancement Partnership (WEP) and the extraordinary challenges that nearly changed everything.
Follow the journey behind a $1.5 million effort to restore nearly two miles of the San Juan River, where 18 landowners, local, state, and federal partners came together to improve stream connectivity, restore aquatic and riparian habitat, protect streambanks, enhance recreation, and build resilience against drought, flooding, and wildfire. Partway through construction, historic floodwaters transformed the river overnight, forcing the team to rethink, redesign, and adapt in real time.
This inspiring short documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the power of collaboration, resilience, and innovation as a community works together to protect and restore one of Pagosa Springs' greatest natural treasures.
