Growing Spaces 2nd Annual Spring Open House & Seed Swap

Saturday, March 21, 2026 (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) (MDT)

Description

After a successful inaugural event last year, the community is invited to gather once again to share seeds, ideas, and inspiration for the growing season ahead.

The seed swap runs from 10 am to noon, while supplies last. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 10 am if they plan to bring seeds. Attendees may share home-harvested seeds, cuttings, starts, or extra commercial seed. Envelopes will be provided for bulk seed, and pre-packaged seeds should be labeled with the common and Latin names, year harvested if known, and any helpful growing tips. Preference will be given to those who bring seeds to swap.

At 11 am, Cindi Galabota, CSU Extension Director of Archuleta County, will present a seed starting talk to help gardeners confidently begin the season.

Tours of all six sizes of Growing Dome® Greenhouses will be available throughout the event. In addition, a limited supply of Paonia Soil Co.’s soil and amendments will be available for purchase, exclusive to this event.

Community, Connection & Growing for Good

Growing Spaces’ roots reach back to 1989, when founders Udgar and Puja Parsons set out to solve a problem that would resonate with high-altitude gardeners everywhere: how to grow fresh food year-round in a climate where the outdoor growing season is barely 90 days long. Inspired by the principles of Buckminster Fuller and their experience with the Biodome project at the Windstar Foundation in Colorado, the Parsons began building Growing Dome® greenhouses that used shape, strength, and science to extend the growing season and nurture plant life even in harsh conditions.

What began as a local solution quickly became a movement. Today, Growing Spaces’ geodesic Growing Dome greenhouses help people in every U.S. state and 16 countries grow healthy, sustainable food regardless of climate. Under the current leadership of Gary Hall, following stewardship by Lem and Liz Tingley, the company remains dedicated to food independence, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment.

The Open House & Seed Swap reflects what the company has always believed: gardening isn’t just about plants. It is about people. Seeing neighbors trade seeds, exchange knowledge, strengthen relationships, and nurture both soil and spirit embodies the heart of Growing Spaces’ mission.
