Chimney Rock Interpretive Association and Pagosa Springs Community Band Partner for Special Community Fundraiser

Saturday, August 22, 2026 (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM) (MDT)

Description

Chimney Rock Interpretive Association (CRIA) and the Pagosa Springs Community Band are joining together for a unique evening celebrating history, music, and community during a special fundraising event on Saturday, August 22, 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Tennyson Sculpture Garden Gazebo in downtown Pagosa Springs.

The evening will begin with an engaging presentation by local author and historian Sue Fischer, entitled "Surprises, Mysteries and Oddities at Chimney Rock." Fischer will share fascinating stories and insights into the many intriguing aspects of Chimney Rock National Monument, offering attendees a deeper appreciation for one of Southwest Colorado's most significant archaeological treasures.

Copies of Sue Fischer's recently published book, Chaco Culture at Chimney Rock, will also be available for purchase during the event.

Following a brief intermission, guests may enjoy refreshments available from Chef's Cuisine before the Pagosa Springs Community Band presents performances by its brass trio, brass quintet, and newly formed woodwind ensemble. The concert will feature a selection of well-loved musical favorites, including two pieces chosen to honor the spirit of Chimney Rock—"In the Hall of the Mountain King" and "Cloud Dances."

"This event brings together two organizations dedicated to enriching our community through education, culture, and the arts," said organizers. "It's a wonderful opportunity to learn something new, enjoy exceptional local talent, and support two nonprofits that work year-round to preserve and celebrate our community's heritage."

Admission to the event is free, but donations are strongly encouraged as this collaborative evening serves as a fundraiser benefiting both the Chimney Rock Interpretive Association and the Pagosa Springs Community Band. Proceeds will help support educational programming, performances, and community outreach offered by both organizations.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, as seating is not provided in the sculpture garden.

Community members and visitors alike are invited to spend a memorable summer evening surrounded by history, music, and friends while supporting two organizations that make lasting contributions to the Pagosa Springs community.
