SUMMARY:Women's Knots\, Hitches\, and Lashings
DESCRIPTION:Rope-working skills\, once commonplace and passed down through generations\, are fading. We tend to use tents versus shelters\, cinching straps and metal buckles instead of a length of rope\, cars versus pack horses\, and so on. This has made knots seem like more of a novelty than a daily skill. However\, in emergencies\, knots offer efficient solutions to a host of problems: protecting food from critters\, improvising splints\, protecting yourself from bad weather\, carrying gear\, improvising tools\, carrying injured people\, building rafts\, cooking over a fire and so much more. Though we could spend weeks (as there are THOUSANDS of knots)\, we are going to spend just one day learning and applying 20-25 knots\, hitches\, and lashings that are most useful in a variety of survival applications. They are so empowering and fun to learn!\nSuitable for ages 12 and up\, including participants with a wide variety of physical challenges as well.\nWhat we'll cover:\n Making rope out of various materials you may have on hand\n How to whip or burn the ends for durability and effective use\n Knots\, hitches\, and lashings useful for: getting you or gear into trees\, putting up different kinds of shelters\, building carrying devices\, cooking over a fire\, lashing poles together\, and so much more\n\nYou'll get lots of practice applying the knots in various scenarios and leave with a colorful knot rope and knowledge of how to make it into a "better survival bracelet" that will keep line close at hand in case you ever need it.
